To the disappointment of many, including AudlemOnline (having run a number of articles encouraging residents to stand) there will be no election on 7th May for Audlem Parish Council.
There were twelve candidates for the twelve-strong parish council. Indeed, this will immediately reduce to eleven candidates as Peter Oxley has confirmed his resignation in a separate story below where he says:
"As I am unable to commit myself to 24/7 unpaid work for the local community, due to other work commitments, I have had to therefore sadly withdraw from my newly appointed role as a new Audlem Parish Councilor by resigning immediately from the role."
The new parish council will consist of nine existing councillors – Richard Furber and John Langston did not put themselves forward and there was already a vacancy – plus Bill Consterdine and Ann Tilling. We assume there will now be a casual vacancy following Peter Oxley's resignation.
