The Combermere Abbey Family Dog Walk and Dog Show

Paws, Walks and Waggy Tails: Brand-New Family Dog Walk and Show Comes to Combermere Abbey this October.

Dog lovers, families and their four-legged friends are invited to Combermere Abbey for a brand-new event celebrating all things canine and benefitting canine charity Dogs Trust.

The Combermere Abbey Family Dog Walk and Dog Show takes place on Sunday 11 October, from 12 noon to 4pm, offering a wonderful afternoon out for dogs and their owners, with a scenic two-mile walk through the estate’s parkland and ancient woodlands, a fun dog show, refreshments and plenty of canine-inspired shopping.

Well known for its spring Bluebell Walk, this is the first time Combermere Abbey has hosted an event of this kind, giving families from the local area the chance to explore the beautiful surroundings with their dogs while enjoying a relaxed and sociable afternoon.

Entry is just £5 per person, with children going free, and there is free parking and toilets.  Tickets must be purchased in advance.

A walk for dogs and their owners

The walk takes visitors through the parkland and ancient woodlands of Combermere Abbey. Whether accompanied by a bouncy puppy, a dignified older dog or a much-loved rescue, all are invited to come along and enjoy the experience.

And there is plenty to look forward to when walkers return, including refreshments from GT Coffee and delicious sweet and savoury treats from Artemis Kitchen.

THE DOG SHOW – with a local celebrity vet connection.

For those who want to put their pooch in the spotlight, Phoenix Vets in Nantwich will be running the dog show. Phoenix Vets is owned by television celebrity and local vet Steve Leonard, adding an exciting professional veterinary connection to the event.

The Show will start at 2pm, and there will be a range of fun classes celebrating dogs of all kinds, including:

Prettiest Girl; Handsomest Boy; Best Pup (for dogs up to one year old). Golden Oldie (celebrating older dogs); The Dog with the Waggiest Tail; Best Rescue; Young Handler (celebrating the special bond between children and their dogs).

Class winners will go through to a grand final to choose the Best in Show. Entry to the dog show is £2 per dog and bookable only on the day. Class sizes are limited so early registration is encouraged.

Supporting Dogs Trust

The event will raise funds for Dogs Trust, which has a strong presence in the local Shrewsbury area. Dogs Trust volunteers and experts will be supporting the event, giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about the charity and the important work it does for dogs and their owners.

Visitors will be able to browse six or seven stalls offering wonderful products, treats, accessories and ideas for enjoying life with canine companions.

With something for everyone — from the woodland walk and dog show to coffee, food, shopping and meeting fellow dog lovers promises to be a fun and friendly new addition to the autumn calendar.
