Audlem Lass has maintained its popularity in its third year of sailing the canal between Audlem's Lock 15 and the Overwater Marina. The service will continue this year until the end of the half term holiday in late-October.
So far this year from 2nd April, and excluding this last weekend, 3,924 passengers have been carried including 610 children and 144 dogs of all breeds.
Boat fares collected amount to £3477.18p. Please note that in October the service starts a little later at 11.00am and runs each Saturday and Sunday until 4.30pm. Its normal service – see timetable by clicking on the link below the photos – continues in September.
Monies raised from fares and advertising, after running expenses, are donated to the lifeboat charity, the RNLI. The Audlem Lass service is run by a team of volunteer fully trained coxswains.
In the winter, Audlem Lass receives a service and repaint to ready the boat for the following season. Her rest from service will be broken, of course, when a very generous whiskered gentleman in a red coat requires a stylish ride into the village at the Big Switch On on 28th November.
