Audlem Bowling Club welcomes its 100th member

Audlem and District Bowling Club is celebrating a landmark 2026 season, reaching 101 members after welcoming 26 newcomers to the green.

New Website

The club s new website has played a major role in this recruitment boost, making it easier than ever for residents across the village to discover crown green bowling. Crucially, the club emphasizes that there is zero pressure to join a team. In fact, 33 of the club's 101 members choose not to bowl competitively, enjoying the green purely for casual roll-ups, gentle exercise, and good company outdoors.

Social Members

A great example of this growing social membership is a new group joining this season from Lyme Wood Grange, the local McCarthy & Stone development. Pictured on the green enjoying a game are four of the new Lyme Wood Grange members: Cyril Kingsley, Jean Oaks, Charlie Wilcox, and Patricia Wilcox. Looking for a relaxed local hobby, they now bowl most mornings, weather permitting, and love the social routine.

To keep all members up to date, the club sends out a weekly schedule detailing team fixtures and green availability, making it easy for our club's social bowlers to see when the green is free for a casual end.

To help all newcomers build confidence at their own pace, the welcome package includes complimentary coaching sessions with qualified club coach John Stead. These friendly, low-pressure sessions cover the basics, from grip and stance to line and weight control, giving new bowlers the skills to enjoy a casual roll-up with friends without any expectation of joining a competitive squad.

Whether you are looking for a gentle morning hobby, regular social roll-ups, or league competition, the green offers a warm, inclusive environment for all ages and experience levels.
