Audlem OnLine recently published information on a Supported Bus Services Review being carried out by Cheshire East Council. Cheshire East have opened a Consultation on the proposals which started on 18th May and ends on 26 July 2017.

When the Parish Council studied the proposals Councillors were very concerned that the Review indicates that all bus services to and from Audlem could be negatively affected:

Route 71 (Nantwich – Wrenbury – Audlem)

It is impossible to tell whether the afternoon (term-time only) service will continue from the information given.

Route 73 – (Nantwich – Audlem – Whitchurch)

The service will terminate at Audlem Square. This means that the five buses per day to/from Lightwood Green (four of which continue to Whitchurch) will cease.

There is no change to the first bus of the day (although it looks as if it may not go to Buerton). The last bus of the day will be 17.05 from Nantwich, returning from Audlem at 17.31. Currently there are three hourly services after this up until 20.05/20.31).

The service will be 'approximately every two hours', meaning six buses per day, rather than the current ten.

Route 75 (Nantwich – Audlem – Market Drayton)

The single service on a Wednesday will be withdrawn.

Route 79 (Nantwich – Audlem – Hanley)

The single service on a Friday will be withdrawn.

Full details of the proposals can be found in the brochure that can be downloaded using the link below the picture, or by clicking here to go to the Cheshire East website, but if you would like the information in another format please call 0300 123 55 00

Staffed events are being held where you can find out more information on this issue. The nearest one is in Nantwich Civic Hall from 2-7pm on 19th June and there is also one in Municipal Buildings, Crewe from 2-7pm on 4th July. The Consultation closes on Wednesday 26 July 2017.

The Parish Council will be making a formal response to the proposals. Councillors urge all residents to make representations against the proposed reduction of our (already inadequate) bus service so the weight of public opinion will be clear.
