The Parish Council have been asked to work with Cheshire East Council to identify local measures to help the community emerge from the lockdown safely, ensuring that Public Health is protected.

Following Parish Council meetings over the last month or so (mainly using ZOOM to protect councillors), they have identified a series of measures to help support social distancing during the Covid recovery phase.

These are:-

  • 1. Footpath access from the Anwyll estate to the centre of the village
  • 2. Bollards round the corner of Stafford Street by the Old Post Office.
  • 3. Better pedestrian protection over the canal bridge on Shropshire Street – perhaps a proper pinch point.
  • 4. Reviewing the parking bays outside of the Co-Op.
  • 5. Widening the footpath along Green Lane.
  • 6. Reviewing the possible 20 mph speed limit within the village.
  • 7. Getting Cheshire East to "fast-track" the planning for the Turnpike Field carpark.

If and when any or all of these measures are progressed, consultation with the wider Audlem community will be required.

The letter sent to Cheshire East can be seen by clicking on the link below the photograph.
