Hatherton Bends accidents

AudlemOnline's coverage of the various incidents on the Hatherton Bends has attracted much interest, particularly when we were able to publish a photo of the latest crash there, thanks to one of our readers.

Now, another reader, Bob Fousert, tells us he has obtained from Cheshire Constabulary, using a Freedom of Information request, the list of reported incidents on that short stretch of road which you can read by clicking on the PDF file under the photo.

The list of incidents goes back to 2011 but as all regular readers will know, the bends have been the downfall of many a driver over a much longer period.

While some incidents are attributed to braking because of an animal or another vehicle stopped on the road, the majority use the phrase 'Lost Control.'

The list does show the age of the drivers and confirms, as some have suspected, that the majority are relatively young.
