Our market is still providing its local produce to Audlem and district.
The apples have started to fall early this year, I hope we are not going to get a long hard winter. We have tested the Apple pressing equipment and made the first single variety pasteurised Apple Juice from two wheel barrows full of sweet Worcester Permian apples. They will be on the market along with cider vinegar, free range eggs , honey, beeswax products jams and marmalades, Damsons, a few late beans, Fresh dessert and cooking apples. Damson chutney has been made along with spiced Damson jam taking advantage of the very early damson crop this year. Those damsons on the trees exposed to full sun have gone over already but you can still find good crops in shadier locations. Ask the damson tree owners permission before taking them from the hedgerows.
ADAPT will be having a community Apple pressing shortly, keep an eye out for it's location and timing. Apples need to be washed and suitable juice containers need to be brought.
There will be cakes and garden plants also on the market this week. 10am to noon this Saturday, Lord Combermere Pub Carpark Audlem
Cheers Chris Knibbs ADAPT Secretary
