The Audlem Medical Practice's Patient Panel Group met last Tuesday and the minutes of the meeting can be read by clicking on the PDF beneath the photo.

There were some interesting discussions including one about ways to use funds of The Audlem Medical Trust and secondly the Section 106 situation following the two recent planning decisions to allow the building of up to 146 new houses in Audlem which would have a significant impact on patient numbers.

This followed the Formal Request to Discharge the S106 requiring Education and Health Care Contributions on Planning Permission by Hockenhull, the Heathfield Road developer – as reported last week in coverage of Audlem Parish Council's March meeting.

The meeting discussed the problem NHS England has obtaining funds from developers whose developments have an impact on local medical facilities and the lack of any system to ensure that any funds that do go to NHS England filter down to, for example, a local medical practice.

The real problem in coping with extra patients in the Audlem Medical Practice is that there is not sufficient space within the current building.

A round of bidding for capital infrastructure spending has been opened with NHS England in the financial year 2015/16 and Audlem would be preparing a bid.

After a lot of discussion on this matter it was suggested that a direct approach to those profiting from the developments may provide an alternative source of funds for extending the practice building.
