No funding for health infrastructure

At the Parish Council meeting on Monday, Councillors were very concerned about the difficulty of getting any meaningful response from the NHS about attempts to mitigate some of the effects of developments around the village via a section 106 agreement. This makes the developer contribute towards the extra costs of some local services (the Medical Centre in this case) when the development concerned creates extra pressure on that service.

Parish Council statement

As reported earlier, South Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group put in an application for funding for Audlem Medical Practice via a Section 106 agreement related to the McCarthy & Stone proposal for retirement apartments at Little Heath. Unfortunately, this was not supported by the Southern Planning Committee when it determined to be 'Minded to Refuse' the application, which has now gone to Appeal. Although directly consulted on the proposal, NHS England had made no response to the application.

Parish Councillors were dismayed that yet again Audlem failed to get any funding for infrastructure projects to help mitigate against development. They resolved to complain to the NHS about the lack of activity in applying for funding via S106 and the apparent inability to guarantee that funds will be spent in the actual area where development is proposed. No response has yet been received to the letter, which was sent on 11 August. As and when Councillors get a reply it will be published on AOL.
