It's a big week at Cheshire East Council with a Cabinet meeting on Thursday 25th February when a major item on a busy agenda will be the election of a new leader of the council following the resignation of Cllr Michael Jones.

Audlem's councillor, Rachel Bailey, is hot favourite as she has already been made leader of the Conservative group on Cheshire East council and the party has a large majority. There are currently 53 Conservative members, 16 Labour and 13 from other parties or groups.

That meeting on Thursday will be discussing a number of major issues including the council's budget, the Local Plan, the election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the 2016/17 Civic Year as well as the election of the council leader.
