Cheshire Barn Owl Report

Local resident Mike Harthern sent us this recently compiled report of the Barn Owl population in Cheshire

This report shows a slight decline in Barn owls in 2013, so we look forward to next years report when hopefully an improving picture will be available.

From the report

This was a very poor breeding year which can certainly be attributed to the very long
cold spring which was experienced in 2013. Last time we had a crash in breeding, substantial numbers of adults survived to breed well in the next year and hopefully this will happen again.It should also be remembered that despite this setback there are still more breeding pairs in the county than there were in 2000.
