Welcome Back to a New Half Term!

What a wintery start we have had to this second half term of Spring! Despite the snow which has welcomed the children back to school this week, the lighter mornings have helped to give a hint of Spring and hopefully we will see more of the Spring sunshine as we begin another half term together!

Our INSET day focus on Monday was on one of our key School Development Priorities of Emotional Health and Wellbeing. This included training for all staff on Attachment, Emotional Needs and Barriers as well as well being for children and staff. We will continue to embed this work across school in the coming weeks and months.

We welcomed Mrs Maughan back to school on Monday following her maternity leave. She joins Mrs Salt and Miss Clarke in EYFS on a part time basis and will teach Amethyst class Monday to Wednesday each week with Mrs Salt continuing to teach the class each Thursday and Friday and Miss Clarke remaining with the class all week.

Trip to Roman Chester

Despite the wintry weather, Ruby Class enjoyed an excellent trip to Roman Chester on Wednesday. The trip started with a 'Soldier Patrol' where the children marched to the Roman Gardens and learnt how to make a 'tortoise' formation with the use of their shields. The class then went to the Amphitheatre to learn about gladiators and the weapons that they used. After lunch the children went on a guided tour of the museum where they looked at lots of exhibits and learnt about the archaeological excavations.

World Book Day

It was World Book Day on Thursday and, to celebrate, children and staff shared their favourite books and recommended 'good reads'. There was a great buzz about the choices and lots to share! The book theme continued across lunchtime with characters from Alice in Wonderland and Pirates visited us (as the Kitchen staff and Mid Days in disguise!) as part of our special World Book Day themed lunch.
