Developments following the public meeting on Monday and the emergency Parish Council meeting on Wednesday.

Cheshire East approves "Community Right to Bid"

This is an important staging point in the battle to save the White Lion from demolition following an application from Hankelow Parish Council.

The 'Save the White Lion' group

The Group was formed after last Monday's public meeting and hopes to meet the owner of the White Lion, Mr Timothy Gutteridge, soon to discuss the future of the public house that has been at the centre of the Hankelow community for over 250 years.

A meeting of the Save the White Lion group has been arranged for Thursday 25 August at 7:30 in the community room at Hankelow Chapel and people interested in the challenge or learning more are very welcome to attend.

Parish Council opposition

The Parish Council voted to oppose the planning application to demolish the White Lion and urged people to write to Cheshire East Council to make their opposition plain to the planners.
