Writing to Inspire Us All!

It has been Author Week in school this week and we have been working together to look at authors who inspire us and influence our writing. On Monday the children had an inspiring Assembly on how to become a writer.

They listened to a variety of extracts from a selection of books and had to figure out which extract matched the book. The children looked at recognising the importance of reading and how reading and writing entwine together. In classes children will be transferring their knowledge of writing into inspirational pieces linked to World Book Day.

On World Book Day the children were very excited to be designing and making their own book covers for their classroom doors. School Parliament will be coming around next week to judge them. Everyone, both children and staff, shared stories and books that they have enjoyed over the last year. There was a great buzz about the choices and lots to share!

On Wednesday, Ruby Class were delighted to be visited once again by Anne Draper – this time with some exciting news! Mrs Draper has been working hard over the past few months compiling all of her hard work on the WW1 soldiers of Audlem and has had a book published which includes the poems that Ruby Class wrote last term. She has kindly donated a copy to the school, and we have secured 20 copies of the book which can be purchased from the school office. All profits made from the book will be donated to St. James' Church's repair fund. If you wish to buy a copy from school, please send £12.95 to the school office either in cash or a cheque made payable to 'Audlem PCC' by 22nd March.

Well done Ruby class for your great contributions to this publication!
