Another Busy Week Full of News!

Our Year 4 children returned from their Delamere adventure on Thursday full of exciting stories about their residential. Mr Davies, Mr Perry and Mrs Spooner ensured that they packed lots of interesting activities into both days and the children were full of exciting recounts of their visit!

When I visited them all on Wednesday evening they were enjoying a campfire complete with songs and toasted marshmallows and were full of news of their trip so far. It was wonderful to see the teamwork and excitement they all shared and hear how well the children had represented our school whilst they were away. All of the staff accompanying them to Delamere were very proud of them all. Well done to everyone involved.

On Monday, Diamond class welcomed Reverend Helen to their class to talk about her work in Ethiopia and Addis Ababa with Christian Aid. Diamond Class are currently studying a book called 'The Garbage King' which is set in Ethiopia and they were keen to find out what it is really like to live there.
Reverend Helen brought in lots of photographs, maps and real artefacts to bring the setting of the book to life and to show how the characters may have lived. Diamond Class had lots of questions about what life is really like for children of their age in Ethiopia, and look forward to Reverend Helen coming back once they have all finished the book.

We enjoyed a wonderful Chinese New Year's themed lunch for everyone on Wednesday. The children were treated to a menu including stir-fry, sweet and sour, Chinese rice and noodles and from the number of empty plates I saw, I would say it was a great success!

We welcomed Year 2 Parents and Carers to school to join their children for lunch on Wednesday. It was wonderful to see the children sharing lunch and playtime with their relatives. Thanks to Mrs Robinson-Cartlidge and Mrs Gavin for providing a wonderful menu for the themed lunch and shared lunch and to all of the Mid Day Assistants who do a wonderful job organising everyone and clearing everything up.

Amethyst class have been taking part in an exciting music workshop involving Barney Bear this term. So far they have learnt how to warm up their voices before singing and they have really enjoyed singing 'The Nursery Rhyme Rap.' The children are very excited about performing all they have learnt for their parents and carers later this term!

each day.

FASA – We need your help!
FASA are always seeking new helpers to support with their events; they are also seeking new committee members. We will be sending out a flier and questionnaire from FASA next week.
This is an important communication to ensure this fantastic fund raising group can be sustained. I urge ALL parents and carers to return the questionnaire as soon as possible to help with this. Thank you.

A reminder that FASA's next event will be Film Night for all of the children on Wednesday 22nd March from 5pm – 7pm; please look out for more details about this very popular event coming soon.

FASA are also busy preparing for a special Easter Eggstravaganza on Wednesday 29th March. It will be held after school from 3.15pm – 5pm and will include a range of Easter activities (including an Easter Bonnet parade) and stalls including an exciting Easter Egg Hunt! We hope you will be able to join us for this.

ABC Childcare
ABC are currently enrolling for Easter term. Please call ABC on 01270 748081 for more information.
Bookings are also being taken for ABC's holiday club; if you would like to book a place or find out more please contact ABC directly.

Punctuality
I would like to remind you that doors open at 8.45am and teachers and TAs planned targeted work for groups and individual from 8.45am onwards. Please support your child and their teacher by arriving punctually for the start of the school day. Punctuality makes a great start to the school day and we cannot stress how much children are affected if they arrive late. The feeling of uncertainty and worry often impacts throughout the entire first lesson. Please let us know if you are having problems getting your child to school on time.

School Phone Number
Please be aware, our school telephone number is linked to Cheshire East's phone system and appears as a 0845 number when dialled out, not 01270. Please bear this in mind when answering or ignoring calls during the school day as it is vital we are able to contact parents and carers with messages from school.

Cricket Club
Woore Cricket Club are running cricket sessions from Sunday 12th February for 8 weeks. The sessions will take place at Madeley High School and are a great way for children to learn many new skills or brush up on their skills before the cricket season begins if they have played previously. The Club has entered 6 junior sides to compete in league cricket this season giving the opportunity for children from age 6+ to participate in these games.
Level 2 accredited coaches will run the sessions and the club is always happy to welcome new children so come along and have a go at a great sport. Please contact Trudie Bloor on 0798573118 for more information.

Finally
We will be sending home letters about our parent/teacher meetings soon. These meetings will take place next half term. Please look out for the letters in school bags.
