We are pleased to report that Audlem now has another innovative, creative and unique business to add to the eclectic mix we already have in the village; Vertical Shores – Stained Glass Garden Art.
Ian recalls as a 14 year old being taken round Edinburgh by his much older cousin, one evening entering an old warehouse to see a band practicing. Their name: Vertical Shores. This resonated. The band may have the long gone, but their name lives on but with a slightly different connotation; Vertical Shores – Stained Glass Garden Art.
Formed in 2002 by Ian Reynolds (yes Ian Reynolds the Chimney Sweep), Ian now runs his Stained Glass Garden Art business from his home in Audlem.
Originally inspired to learn a new skill that enabled him to use his creative instincts and his hands, Ian enrolled in a Stained Glass course at night school. This provided the platform from which he developed his thinking and the application of stained glass into the Garden environment and a series of initial collections with inspiring designs such as; Corra Linn, Nez Perce, Autumn and Iona to name a few.
His work brought him to the attention of a garden designer seeking stained glass for their Hampton Court small show garden. This endeavour culminated in 3 large stained glass sales and a Silver medal for the garden concerned.
Since these early designs, Ian has developed his range of designs to ones that omit the use of lead, incorporate fused glass and use mild steel.
Examples of his Stained Glass garden Art are currently on display in Cheshire at Arley Hall – Grove and Sculptures and the Mount Pleasant Sculpture Trail, Kelsall. Vertical Shores have also been accepted as a late entry for a stand at the 2017 Southport Flower Show.
Ian informs us that his intention is to increase his participation in Garden Shows and Exhibitions in the years ahead, with a focus mainly on the North West.
Of late Ian has also ventured into creating fused glass pictures and his work is already available through the Audlem Mill. And as a result of being asked by his recently acquired daughter in law to make some glass wedding favours, Ian now has a range of items available in this area too.
Added to scope of his work he is also able to make or repair leaded lights for homes and even has experience of working on church windows.

If you would like to see any of his work in real life, or have a general enquiry including anything associated with Leaded Lights or Wedding favours, please contact Ian as per the details on the website and he will be happy to oblige.
