As a community, we are incredibly fortunate to have so many talented young people right here in Audlem, and this summer we would love your support as they take to the stage in our annual youth production of Beauty and the Beast Jr.
This year, 24 children from Audlem and the surrounding villages are taking part in our Youth Theatre Project. Every year we are delighted to see participation grow, with more and more young people discovering a love for performing arts and gaining the confidence to step into the spotlight.
Productions such as these offer so much more than simply putting on a show. They help children build confidence, develop communication skills, learn teamwork, form lasting friendships, and gain a sense of achievement that stays with them long after the final curtain falls. For many of our young performers, the youth production is their first taste of theatre, and it often becomes the springboard to future opportunities within Audlem Theatre Company, including our annual pantomime, spring productions, and other community events.
This year, we have decided to do something a little different and challenge both ourselves and the children with an exciting new format. Rather than rehearsing over several months, the entire production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr. will be learned and staged in just one week.
From Monday 6th July through to Friday 10th July, our young cast will attend intensive evening rehearsals at Audlem Town Hall, learning all of their songs, choreography, staging, and character work in preparation for the performance. Then, after just five evenings of rehearsals, they will take to the stage for a full public performance at 6.30pm on Saturday 11th July.
It is a huge challenge, requiring commitment, determination, and plenty of hard work from every performer involved. However, it is also an incredible opportunity for these young people to develop new skills, build resilience, and experience the excitement and pride that comes from being part of a live production.
We would love the wider Audlem community to come along and support these remarkable young people. Seeing friends, neighbours, family members, and local residents in the audience means the world to our performers and helps ensure that youth theatre continues to thrive in our village for years to come.
Whether you know someone in the cast or simply want to support local young talent, we promise an evening of entertainment, laughter, music, and magic as our young performers bring the beloved story of Beauty and the Beast Jr. to life.
