Approaching 150 responses from local Audlem residents are now posted on Cheshire East's website which you can see by clicking here and then on Plans and Documents. You can read the individual responses by clicking the number in the left hand column.
We would commend, in particular, the response produced on behalf of Audlem Parish Council by consultants which, over 14 pages, gives a detailed assessment of why this proposal should be turned down with all the arguments sticking, as one would expect from such specialists, closely to planning law and practice. You can download the full parish council comment by clicking here or read it online at the Cheshire East website here.
We also liked a response from a local resident who has had something of a battle with the planners in recent months. He said: "A recent planning application we made was rejected as it was "not in keeping with the rural setting" . The planning department should be aware that at the local presentation from Gladman one of the representatives assured us that the development would "Give an URBAN feel to the village." Does this mean one end of the village is "Rural" while the other end is "Urban" Please don't be accused of double standards."
And just to show you are never too old to make your voice heard, a handwritten objection was posted by an 83-year-old from Moorsfield Avenue concerned at the effect on the Audlem Medical Practice and the inadequacy of the local bus services. "We may need some more housing, but not such a large addition all at once," she said.
It is always interesting to consider the responses that are absent. Comments were asked for from Cheshire East's Housing Strategy & Needs Manager but, look as we might, we cannot find any response on the website.
Just as interesting is the absence of a comment on the sewerage question from United Utilities Sewer Transfer Planning Liaison. Many of the individual responses to the consultation refer to sewerage problems in Audlem which would be exacerbated by a development of the size proposed. Yet we don't yet know what assessment has been made by United Utilities nor their views on the matter.
Gladman's proposal is due to be considered on 23rd August by Cheshire East. The deadline for responses from the public has now passed.
