Brine Leas School has been shortlisted to win a much-needed £10,000 colour and design transformation in a national competition being run by Dulux Smarter Spaces

The Dulux Smarter Spaces Initiative encourages pupils to get involved in the design of their school environments with a belief that children are likely to be more engaged in the classroom

Recent research carried out to mark the launch of the Dulux Smarter Spaces initiative showed that an overwhelming majority of teachers and head teachers consider the school environment to affect pupils' academic life, including learning and behaviour

Brine Leas School will enlist the help of pupils to create a redesign of its foyer and entrance hall, which is used by 1,400 students a day

Just five other secondary schools remain in the competition across the country and Brine Leas School needs your help. The school is encouraging AudlemOnline readers, and their hosts from these visits to vote for their school here to support their entry.

The competition is being championed by Educating Yorkshire star Matthew Burton who is now assistant headteacher at Thornhill Community Academy in Dewsbury, which starred in the show

The winning school will be announced in September
