Following a recent OfSTED inspection of Audlem St James' School, the Governing Body can confirm that the school was judged 'satisfactory' with the capacity for sustained improvement for the coming academic year.

The areas which where judged as 'good' were, safeguarding, pupil behaviour, contribution to the school and the wider community, spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and healthy lifestyle.

Pupils attendance was judged as 'outstanding' with behaviour in school and lessons as good and at times very good.

The recent SATs results at the school have shown an improvement on the two previous years and this was a clear indication to OfSTED that the school, which has recently been through a very turbulent year, has been working closely with the Local Authority and special advisors in education to instigate real change at the school.

With a recent re-organisation of the Governing Body and the hard work of the staff at the school, OfSTED described it as a committed team, motivated to embed ambition for further improvement and as a result of this, attainment rose in 2010 at the end of both key stages.

Commenting on the OfSTED report headteacher Catherine Nolan-Burnitt said: "A Satisfactory judgement is not where we wish to be, therefore the staff at our school and the Governing Body will continue to drive improvements forward and to work closely together to ensure that every child at the school has the opportunity to achieve their full potential."

Acting Chair of Governors, Hilary Serif, commented, "The Governing body acknowledges the challenges our school faces, however, the Governing Body and staff are absolutely determined to rebuild the trust and confidence of the parents. We understand this will take time, but we recognise we all wish to see sustained and significant improvement in pupil outcomes."

Parents/carers have been invited to a Parent Forum to discuss the post OfSTED action plan and the changes that are taking place with the Governing Body.
