UK Heart Safe Awards won

It's great to be able to announce some more awards won by local Audlem residents and organisations. It sometimes feels like "life or death" when we compete for website and best village awards, but this one really could be literally life and death.

Last Thursday Alex and Anthony Davis won a prestigious business award for their First Aid & Water Safety Training Company AED Safety Services, based in Audlem.

The awards hosted by the charity "Hand on Heart" (click here) raises money to put defibrillators in schools and train children and staff to use them.

The charity was founded to combat the increase in cardiac arrest amongst young people. 12 to 16 young persons die each WEEK in the UK, 80% with no prior symptoms. An AED/Defibrillator at close hand can prevent many of these deaths.

The UK Heart Safe Awards, are the UK's first nationwide awards competition to celebrate organisations and employers who invest in creating Heart Safe environments as well as the acts of individuals who have saved lives while at work or leisure.

AED Safety Services won the "Heart Safe SME Business of 2013 Award", which they were surprised to have won as the competition was so high. Alexandra was also proud to have been nominated for "Heart Safe Trainer of the Year."

Many big organisations were present including the North West Ambulance Service who won "Heart Safe Emergency Services Team of the Year." The London Ambulance Service, GKN Aerospace, Airbus and the Trafford Centre Group also won awards on the night. Presenters included Paddy McGuinness, Gary Barlow and well known rugby players.

As well as First Aid Training Alex also a fitness instructor and teaches Dance Aerobics and Pilates classes at the Scout & Guide Hall in Audlem every Saturday morning. Anthony also offers Graphic Design and Marketing Consultancy Services and develops database management systems. Together they also offer Corporate Team Building events based on the fun and mentally challenging Argentine Tango. They also work weekends at Overwater Marina.
