Hoc19 have been busily getting ready for Day-Star Theatre's next production here in Audlem.
This evening, Saturday April 20th, will see Audlem's Scout & Guide Hall magically transform once again to Audlem's Cafe Theatre, where you can fetch along your own supper and drinks before enjoying another of Day-Star Theatre's bitter sweet look on everyday life.
Day-Star Theatre present 'The awakening of Geoffrey Phelps', their latest production. Come along and see why this local Theatre Company is much in demand, two actors weaving intricate lives through different characters, with humour and poignancy.
Geoffrey had lived all his life with his mother, Edith until, with increasing dementia, she moved to the Journey's End Retirement Home where he dutifully visits her four times a week. He is a quiet, unassuming man who has worked in the post room of a firm of solicitors since he was 16.
He has never had a girlfriend, a computer, a mobile phone or an email address. He has no particular friends and has never travelled more than a few miles from his home. He is content with his uneventful and mundane life.
On his 53rd birthday, his mother dies, he is made redundant from his job and he learns he is to be evicted from his flat. These life changing events awaken Geoffrey to a new and cynical world, but, with the unexpected appearance of his long lost aunt Winifred, who appears to live on a boat in the garden of a hotel, he also discovers a hidden truth about his family as well as a burgeoning friendship, and a taste for real coffee.
Tickets at £7.50 are at Hoc's Fat Pigeon (there may still be a few left), or via firstname.lastname@example.org or via the event page on FB. Don't miss out, limited venue size, normal door price is £8.50.
