Visitors and Visits – Sharing Wonderful Work Together!
We welcomed Year 6 Parents and Carers to school to join their children for lunch on Monday. It was wonderful to see the children showing their relatives their lunchtime routine. Thanks to Mrs Hayward for providing a wonderful menu and to Mrs Jones and all of the Mid Day Assistants who did a wonderful job organising everyone and clearing everything up.
Pearl and Sapphire class started the week with an exciting trip to Staircase House where they learnt all about the Great Fire of London. They discovered where, when and why the fire broke out.
They used evidence to develop their understanding of the past by reading extracts from Samuel Pepys diary and by examining paintings from the time. The children enjoyed dressing up as Samuel Pepys, King Charles II,Samuel Pepys' maid Jane, maidservants and soldiers.
They learned how houses were constructed; working collaboratively to make a small wattle and daub panel using withies and clay. They also met the Plague doctor and they created some 'cures' using herbs. Some of the children enjoyed their visit so much they said they wanted to go again!
On Tuesday, our Year 5 children travelled to Brine Leas to watch a performance of 'We Will Rock You', which they thoroughly enjoyed!
On Thursday our Year 1 and 2 children visited St James' Church to learn more about Baptism as they took part in a role-play baptism led by Reverend Helen. They learned that Christians make promises when a baby is baptised and they all enjoyed taking part in their special version of this important ceremony.
Sports
Our Netball teams were in action on Monday evening playing two matches against St Annes School. Theyplayed brilliantly and managed to win both games! I know Mrs Heathcock was very proud!
On Thursday night our 5 aside teams both won their matches convincingly in the Nantwich 5 aside competition . This resulted in our school reaching the Nantwich finals after half term. A fabulous achievement. Congratulations to everyone who took part!
FASA news
Great fun was had by all last night at the FASA Spring Disco. Once again, Chris and Ann
Marshall did a wonderful job providing music and games for both EYFS/Key Stage 1 and Key
Stage 2.
It was a lovely way to celebrate the end of a busy half term and thanks must go to all of
the FASA team who worked so hard organising this event.

ABC are once again working with school to offer a range of after school clubs for children at our school next half term. (Information published as a separate story on AudlemOnline) Please call Lynsey on 01270 669050 for more information. These clubs will run alongside clubs offered by school (a list of these will be sent out when the children return to school after half term).
Polite request: Please can parents arrive promptly at 4.15pm when collecting their children from ABC's 1 hour afterschool clubs. It is with regret that if parents arrive 15 minutes or later after 4.15pm there will be a charge of £5 per child, part or full hour.
Don't forget – during the half term holiday ABC will be open on Monday 16th, Tuesday 17th and Thursday 19th February. Please telephone 01270 669050 if you would like to book your child into the holiday club.
