Running out of Audlem: Now there's a question? Looking around at the shop notices in Hoc's Fat Pigeon there are a number of people committing to raising money through walking, swimming and running over these next few weeks.

Whether walking like, Rev Helen Chantry and Ned the dog, taking on the 26 miles from St James to Chester Cathedral along the canal to help raise money for the roof repairs following the theft of the lead last year from St James' Church or Laura Bentley swimming the equivalent of the Channel to raise money to help her provide first aid skills in needy areas of the world.

Then up pop the runners competing in this year's London Marathon in a couple of weeks time on the 21st April. It was Joanna Allman who prompted the headline, astounded by the number of people living in Audlem or still with strong connections to Audlem, taking part in these events raising money for charity.

Take Joanna' s own daughter, Georgina Allman raising money for Arthritis Research UK, a charity that is very close to her heart. Rheumatoid arthritis is a debilitating disease but being tackled thanks to the wonderful work of this charity. Joanna as part of her battle, cycled from coast to coast across the north of England raising a huge amount of money for Arthritis Research UK a few years ago.

Scotland's animal welfare charity do vital work in ensuring the welfare of Scotland's neglected and abandoned animals. Ceri. as a psychologist interested in bringing together the disciplines of psychology and veterinary medicine, latterly a student of veterinary science, the charity's values of preventing cruelty to animals and promoting humanity and kindness in their treatment are central to every aspect of her life. This includes the three cats who allow Ceri to share their home with them.
