Power cable thieves are still at work in towns and villages off the A41.

Power company workers sent out to deal with householder complaints of a power cut in Albrighton found copper wire and cables stripped from pylons in nearby fields.

It is the third theft of copper cable on the A41 in two weeks. Around 1,000 metres of wire was stripped from pylons on the A41, near Market Drayton, last month followed by the theft of another 300 metres near Albrighton.

In the latest incident a set of ladders found near the scene has been taken by police for forensic tests.

A North Shropshire police spokesman said: "In addition to the obvious problems and danger the theft of this cabling causes, the value of the copper wire stolen could be several thousand pounds when you consider how much it will cost to replace."

"We are very keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious that could be linked to these thefts."

Anyone with information can call police in Shropshire on 101 or 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 76S 081013.
