How lovely it has been to welcome the children back to school with lighter mornings and a hint of Spring weather, I hope it has given us all a 'spring' in our step as we begin another half term together!

During the half term break, Mrs Naden completed a new 'Prayers to Share' cross for our hall which was introduced to all of the children in our assembly on Tuesday.

She has done a wonderful job and we look forward to children adding their prayer ribbons to the cross over the coming weeks and months as they share anything they wish to give thanks for or to pray for.

Thank you to all of the families who donated ribbon for this project – any further donations would be gratefully received.

Amber class have impressed me with their marketing and advertising skills this week as they have promoted and sold their fine range of products as part of their Dragon's Den project. They have all worked really hard on this and I know Mrs Stoker is incredibly proud of their work!

Sapphire class had their special Maths Coffee Morning with parents and carers yesterday and there was a wonderful buzz and excitement in their learning as they shared their money skills with their visitors!

Children in Amethyst class had their first Forest Schools session on Thursday afternoon and enjoyed all kinds of balancing and engaging activities with Mrs Hathway, the EYFS staff and parent volunteers – the rain even cleared for them to fully enjoy their session!

Yesterday afternoon, Sapphire and Pearl classes and being treated to a very special visit by a fire engine and members of the fire brigade as part of their Fire topic...they have been really looking forward to this.

Sport

Our Year 3 and 4 Athletics Team represented us marvellously on Tuesday evening at Brine Leas as they competed in the Indoor Athletics Final. The team came 7th overall and were very proud to be competing against the other teams who like our team had beaten many schools to get to the final.

Congratulations to everyone who took part! Many thanks to Mrs Heathcock, Mrs Stoker and all of the family supporters for cheering the team on.

FASA news

A huge thanks to all of the FASA team and the Marshall family for their wonderful organisation and DJing skills at our Spring Disco before half term. It was a great event with lots of games and dancing enjoyed by all!

An amazing £400 was made from this event and this will be used to purchase resources for school. Thanks to all of those families who continue to support school through FASA's fundraising events – it really does make a difference to school life.

FASA's next event will be Film Night for all of the children next Thursday from 5pm – 7pm, I look forward to seeing many children there!

Thank you for all of the donations you have made to our Rag Bag Bin (situated near our main school gates). If you have any old clothes, shoes or covers that you are happy to donate, please
bag them up and put them into the bin.

FASA do a great job of converting these donations into money for school which helps us to provide a wide range of curriculum enhancement opportunities for children in our school.

ABC Childcare

There has been a great response to the after-school clubs offered by ABC. It's not too late to register for the clubs as there are some spaces left. If you'd like to book for next week and following weeks please contact ABC on 01270 669050.

Please ensure prompt collection after all clubs, this is essential to avoid any additional charges.

Polite reminders

A reminder that, in the interests of safety, children bringing scooters or bikes to school are not to ride them within the school grounds. They must be wheeled to and from the bike store and only mounted once outside the school gates.

In the interests of health and safety we ask that no dogs are brought on to school grounds at drop off and pick up time (carried or walking on a lead).

Finally

Our next Parent Forum meeting will be held on Monday 16th March and I will be meeting with our Chair and Secretary to set the final agenda for this meeting on Monday afternoon.

Please send any ideas for agenda items into school by lunchtime on Monday so your ideas can be included in the agenda. Thank you.
