Plans have been lodged to build a house on land to the rear of Ashtree House in Stafford Street.
A design statement to Cheshire East Council from Bower Eddleston Architects says the new house would be built in the underused area of a very large garden.
Mature trees on the perimeter of the proposed site will be unaffected, the statement adds.
"The amount of development has been restricted to a single dwelling to ensure sufficient space will exist to separate the trees from the proposal," it says.
The application for outline planning permission also claims it will be possible to build a new dwelling that will "enhance the setting" and that will not be seen from Stafford Street or the village conservation area.
Access to the new house would be from the housing estate on Church View. Interested parties can comment on the application here.
Outline planning permission will be determined by a planning officer under delegated authority and a decision date has been set at December 3rd.
