A couple who got permission to build holiday homes at their farm now want to turn them into a single permanent dwelling.

An application has been lodged to alter the access and parking and for permanent residential accommodation at former stables on a farm on Back Coole Lane at Newhall.

Planning consent was granted in November last year to convert the redundant stables at Kingswood Green Farm into holiday lets.

Now that work is nearing completion the applicants say a change in family circumstances means they can no longer operate the holiday let business. They now want to move into the building permanently.

A statement by consultants Geoff Allen Associates on behalf of the owners says:" The holiday lets business was to have been operated by the applicants' daughter but she ... will not be available to run the business as was intended. The applicants are both well into their retirement ages and would be unable to manage the commitment themselves."

The statement says the large farmhouse is very demanding in terms of upkeep and maintenance and the couple could 'downsize' into the smaller and more easily maintained dwelling.

The statement argues that turning the holiday lets into a permanent dwelling would both "secure its future and enhance its immediate setting".

"The proposed development is little different in essence from that already approved for the site," it adds.

The application will be determined by a Cheshire East planning officer under delegated powers and has a decision target date of 26th November.
