We are pleased to confirm that the work of replacing the lead on the roof of the Church is now complete and the scaffolding will be removed shortly.

The roof at present looks brighter than the previous lead roof, this is because the cladding material is Terne Coated steel rather than lead. This will dull down over the next year or so to look more like the original lead. The main reason for this change is that the steel is of little value to thieves.

Hopefully the church building is now watertight, but like all buildings of this age regular maintenance is necessary and over the next few years the stonework in and around the tower in particular will need re-pointing – quite a major task as well.

The works have cost around £26,000 and we are delighted that due to the generous support of the local Community we have raised sufficient funds to cover this.

A BIG THANK YOU to all who supported the appeal via donations or attending events.  There has been such a tremendous effort from so many people in so many ways it is impossible to list them all, but the support shown for the church's 'Raise the roof' appeal in only 8 months has been inspiring.
