Our Year 4 children began the week travelling to Brine Leas to rehearse for their special Singing Together performance next month. I know they are working hard to learn all of the words and Mrs Stoker is very proud of them!

Reverend Helen visited Pearl and Sapphire classes on Monday afternoon as part of their work on Baptism and talked to each class about Belonging and Promises. The children learned about Christian symbols used during baptism – water to cleanse, the cross representing Jesus' arms spread wide and welcoming and the candle reminding us of Jesus as the light of the world.

Reverend Helen talked about the preparations, the service and the celebrations and the children are planning their own role play christening for their visit to St James' Church next week.

Amethyst class welcomed parents and carers into class to share their Guided Reading sessions earlier in the week. This was a great opportunity to share this important time of each school day, thank you to those parents who joined us.

Our Year 4 children returned from their Delamere adventure on Thursday full of exciting stories about their residential. Mrs Stoker, Mrs Standley and Mrs Feest ensured that they packed lots of interesting activities into both days and by the time I visited them at the centre on Wednesday night, the children were already full of exciting recounts of their visit so far!

They were keen to show me the fantastic dens they had built together (which I have to say were most impressive!) and they were full of enthusiasm sharing stories and songs around the campfire! Well done to all involved.

Year 2 parents were treated to a showcase of super work in a special class assembly yesterday. The children were wonderfully enthusiastic sharing some of their Great Fire of London work and thrilled their audience with singing, dancing and acting. It was a delight to watch!

School has taken on a red hue on Friday as we all support the British Heart Foundation's Wear It Beat It Day. Thank you to our School Council members who have done a great job reminding everyone of this event and to all of the families who have donated towards this very worthwhile cause.

Sports

On Tuesday evening, Mrs Heathcock, Mrs Spooner and an army of family supporters headed off to the Indoor Athletics final at South Cheshire College with our enthusiastic Athletics team. Once again they put in a performance to be proud of.

This final was an area final and our children were competing against schools from across Crewe and Nantwich. They did tremendously well, coming 5th; getting to these finals was a great achievement for all involved – well done!

Thank you to all of the staff and parents who give their time to support our teams in these events.

FASA news

The FASA Spring Disco is next week, a reminder that children from all classes are able to attend with EYFS/KS1 children having their disco from 4.30pm – 5.30pm and KS2's disco running from 5.45pm – 6.45pm.

FASA are currently seeking a new committee member to support with the advertising and
promotion of their events. If you are able to offer your support with this aspect of FASA's work please contact Miss Cooper in the School Office or Deborah Varley (Chair of FASA). Many thanks.

ABC Childcare

The ABC afterschool clubs have once again proved popular – watch out for next half term's itinerary coming out next week.

Sadly, Mrs Suzanne Bolton will be retiring next week, all at ABC and the children and staff at school will miss her and wish her lots of happiness her retirement.

Don't forget – during the half term holiday ABC will be open on Monday 16th, Tuesday 17th and Thursday 19th February. Please telephone 01270 669050 if you would like to book your child into the holiday club.

Please Consider Our Neighbours

As you are aware, our PCSO Nick Jarvis has been visiting school at the beginning and end of school days to monitor parking outside school. Many parents have responded positively to these patrols and there have been some improvements in parking outside school.

It has been brought to our attention however, that a number of parents and carers are blocking the road with vehicles making it difficult for larger vehicles (such as the school bus) to pass. This is not only dangerous but is also causing damage to neighbours property as larger vehicles are having to mount kerbs and drive on local residents' property to negotiate the road.

PCSO Jarvis will be continuing to monitor this area carefully and I would ask for parents and carers to consider both safety and our school neighbours when parking near school. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

Top Marks for Our Kitchen – Again!

I am pleased to announce that Mrs Hayward, our School Cook has maintained a 5 Star rating for our school kitchen. This award is checked annually and we were recently checked and subsequently awarded the 5 star rating, yet again! Well done to Mrs Hayward!

Those Magnificent Men – TAVA Production

TAVA's next production is due to take place in the Scout & Guide Hall on Saturday 7th March. It promises to be a nail biting, side splitting version of the true story of Alcock & Brown and the first ever non – stop transatlantic flight.

Award winning theatre company, The Foundry Group joins the BBC4 sketch group, The Ornate Johnsons for this brand new staging of the hit play about British pioneering aviators Capt. John Alcock and Lt.Arthur Whitten Brown and their daredevil dash across the Atlantic in a converted Vickers biplane.

For tickets call Janet on 01270 811250 or email Tava.Audlem@ymail.com Tickets cost £9 Adults, £6 Children (age suitability 7+) and £27 for a Family ticket.

Finally

It was great to see such a good turnout for Parents evenings this week and I have received some very positive feedback about the information that staff prepared for these meetings to help you support work at home.

It was wonderful to hear all of the positive comments about all of the wonderful things happening in school as we continue to work together for the best outcomes for all of the children in school.
