Big planning decisions today

It is a big day today with the controversial planning application by Gladman Developments to build up to 120 homes at Little Heath and Hockenhull Properties' plan to build up to 36 homes on fields off the Mill Lane bridleway in Audlem both in front of Cheshire East's Strategic Planning Board this morning.

The Audlem applications are up first and second on the agenda. As regular readers will know, the Gladman application has already gone to appeal to the Secretary of State because of 'non-determination' within the 13-weeks allowed Cheshire East's planners. The council, however, believe the decision today may still influence the appeal.

The Mill Lane application is being heard within the deadline and it will be interesting to hear how the Strategic Planning Board will respond to both their Highways and Environment teams expressing doubts about this plan, as reported on AudlemOnline.

Both applications have seen a flood of comments, virtually all objecting, to Cheshire East. Indeed, a senior councillor said the sheer numbers had contributed to the Gladman application running out of time.

The Strategic Planning Board meets at 10.30am at Macclesfield Town Hall. Audlem Parish Council will be presenting its views at the meeting and other local organisations are hoping to, including the residents' group concerned about the Mill Lane plan.

Members of the 29-strong residents' group formed to fight the proposal have asked to address the planning meeting.

In a letter last week to the council, residents' spokesman Steve Amies said: " I understand that as a residents association, we are entitled to make a three minute presentation at the relevant planning meeting. Please confirm this is the case along with the date and time of the planning meeting."
