The first Audlem Beer Festival starts tomorrow and over Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday there's over thirty cask ales, a wide range of ciders, plus live music in Audlem's three pubs.

Bridge InnNigel and Bridie at the Bridge are very upbeat about the Beer Festival. "We were staggered by the turnout we experienced at the Music Festival and want to build on what we learned then by offering our guests at the Beer Festival two great days of food and entertainment to complement an awesome range of beers all begging to be sampled!"

"We are definitely having the ever popular Bridge B-B-Q and we are pleased to announce that Megan Lee will be singing to our guests from the patio."

Bridie adds: "Pork Pies and Beer are a marriage made in heaven so we will have to offer those, and our meat supplier also wants to come down with a demonstration stand offering free samples!"

Lord CombermereAllan, Jo and all the staff at "The Comber" are excited about the Beer Festival.

"This is what we are about," says Allan, "quality beers, superb locally sourced foods and great entertainment. Our range of beers and ciders for the Festival include amongst others, offerings from four breweries located within twenty miles of Audlem.

"We are also sourcing a range of 'Festival Food Specials' such as an extensive range of local sausages, local cheeses and artisan breads. There will be something for everyone, plus of course our full menu."

Jo added: "We are also looking forward to some great live entertainment over the two days. Darren Poyzer will be making a triumphant return to Audlem!"

Only yesterday, Allan and Jo announced two additional beers bringing their range for the Festival to over a dozen. The Three Tuns Brewery of Bishop's Castle in Shropshire is the oldest licensed brewery in the UK, having been brewing since 1642.

The Combermere will be showing two of their beers, "Cleric's Cure" a 5.0% light tan coloured beer, and "XXX" a more modest 4.3%. This beer, incidentally, is an old Roberts Family recipe, the Roberts being long standing owners of the Brewery over many generations.

Shroppie FlyAndy at the Shroppie Fly is well known in the area for his skills at keeping cask ales. He explains: "The Shroppie normally offers five cask ales. We are supplementing these with ten additional beers and ciders for the weekend."

He continues "The whole Beer Festival is a very exciting development for the village. Just look at the range of beers on offer. They range from Breweries with a turnover of less than £100,000 to over £100,000,000, from Breweries in Scotland to Cornwall and from styles of the lightest straw coloured beers to the darkest milds (and don't forget the ciders!).

"We look forward to introducing local residents and visitors alike to this eclectic mix."

Kate added, "We are offering a lovely range of food for the Festival, and of course invite friends and strangers alike to come and join us on the canal wharf. We just hope ASET have organised the sunshine!"

The Audlem Beer Festival is this weekend on Sunday August 29th and Bank Holiday 30th August at the village's three pubs with over thirty cask ales as well as a wide range of ciders on offer.

Camping facilities are available for this new event in the Audlem calendar just a short walk away from all three village pubs. Please call to book on 07929 895749 or email davidjoynson@btinternet.com">davidjoynson@btinternet.com

There will be a small charge for camping to cover the cost of providing toilet facilities.
