There's a fabulous selection of beers coming to the village at the end of the month for the Audlem Beer Festival on 29th and 30th August.

There'll be lots of news about this latest event over the coming weeks on Audlem Online. An excellent selection of ciders will also be on offer – more details shortly.

Camping facilities are available for this new event in the Audlem calendar just a short walk away from all three village pubs. Please call to book on 07929 895749. There will be a small charge to cover the cost of providing toilet facilities.

Now how's this for a selection, all to be available in Audlem at the end of this month:

Black Sheep Brewery
Black Sheep
4.4% ABV – to be served at the Bridge Inn
It is brewed with many generous handfuls of choice Golding hops giving a bittersweet malty taste, followed by Black Sheep' characteristic long, dry and bitter finish.

Marstons
Pedigree
4.5% ABV – to be served at the Bridge Inn
Natural Burton spring water and traditional varieties of barley and hops (Maris Otter Barley, Fuggles and Goldings hops), rather than less expensive, commercially grown, modern hybrids. Unique in this world, it is still brewed in the oak casks of the Burton Union to preserve its unique character, consistent quality and taste.

Marstons
Burton Bitter
3.6%ABV – to be served at the Bridge Inn
It is crafted using only the finest, barley, hops, yeast and famous Burton spring water to deliver an exceptionally clean tasting beer combining malty biscuity flavours with a delicate hop character and finish.

Marstons
Old Empire
5.7%ABV – to be served at the Bridge Inn
It was a 3 month journey from Burton to Bombay. Old Empire is brewed using optic malt, a subtle and paler grain that will allow other flavours to come through on the palate. Goldings and Fuggle Hops are added to this brew, which is then late hopped with the American Cascade variety for extra hop strength.

Brakspear
Oxford Gold
4.0%ABV – to be served at the Bridge Inn
Brakspear Oxford Gold is a remarkably zesty brew, with fresh, citrussy aromas and a firm, fruity flavour. Pale ale malts provide the beer with its gold-gilt shimmer, spruced by a hatful of crystal malts to give body, texture and a delicate honey'd wrap.

Jennings
Bitter
3.6%ABV – to be served at the Bridge Inn
A distinctively darker bitter brewed with malt made from Maris Otter barley and the careful addition of Amber malt, to give a nutty flavour that supports a subtle blend of English aromatic hops.

Wychwood
Hobgoblin
4.5%ABV – to be served at the Bridge Inn
'Traditionally crafted legendary ruby beer', and legendary it deserves to be. Ruby red when poured, it's a rich, complex taste – chocolate to begin with, slightly nutty, malty, and a slightly bitter finish with hints of citrus.

Ringwood
Fourtyniner
4.9%ABV – to be served at the Bridge Inn
The name is taken from the beer's strength at 4.9% but also evokes its golden colour. Ringwood has been brewing Fortyniner since 1978 and is our second most popular beer. It is a golden full-bodied malty beer with a deep bitter-sweet finish. Brewed with floor-malted Maris Otter barley, Goldings, Progress, Fuggles and Challenger hops.

Ringwood
Showman's Tipple
3.8%ABV – to be served at the Bridge Inn
Originally brewed for the hardworking showmen at the New Forest Show, this is a refreshing bitter to slake the heartiest of thirst's. Brewed with the finest English Malt and Hops.

Beartown
Bearskinful
4.2%ABV to be served at the Lord Combermere
Tawny beer with malt and fruit in the taste leading to a clean and uncompromisingly bitter hop finish.

Beartown
Kodiak Gold

Well balanced, straw coloured and very drinkable. With citrus fruit and hops aroma, leading to a sharp, bitter, clean aftertaste

Charles Wells

A burnished copper colour, it has a rich, tempting aroma of peppery hops and raisins, while the palate is dominated by more dark fruit, juicy malt and tangy hops.

Greene King
IPA
3.6%ABV to be served at the Lord Combermere
A balanced ale and is characterised by the hoppy taste and aroma that comes from the use of Challenger and First Gold hops combined with pale and crystal malts

Peakstone
Oblivion
5.5%ABV to be served at the Lord Combermere
A golden coloured beer, with plenty of body. A good strong citrus flavour and aroma. Does what it says on the label.

Salopian
Lemon Dream
4.5%ABV to be served at the Lord Combermere
A wheat beer very much in the modern English style – served bright and top fermented. The recipe uses a small amount of fresh lemon to compliment the citrussy flavours produced by the wheat malt. Each of the Hops used, Goldings, Saaz and Cascade add fresh lemony flavours to the brew.

Salopian
Golden Thread
5.0%ABV to be served at the Lord Combermere
Of the Salopian beers, this has the most pronounced bitterness. A triple hopping of English First Gold gives powerful citrussy flavours and vinous aromas, however the malt grist of barley, wheat and lager gives plenty of body and sweetness which balances the assertive bitterness.

Timothy Taylor
Landlord
4.3%ABV to be served at the Lord Combermere
Refreshingly reliable, nationally renowned, this full drinking Pale Ale with a complex and hoppy aroma has real "Pulling Power" and stands out in any bar.

Weetwood Ales
Old Dog

A 'premium' bitter with a smooth, full bodied flavour. Dark roasted malt produces a deep colour and the use of the whole hops provide that extra flavour and aroma to what will be a memorable and lasting experience.
