Anti-social behaviour accounts for more than half the crime in Audlem, according to the latest police statistics.

Figures from the British Crime Survey says crime has fallen 5% across the whole of Cheshire and is now at its lowest level since 1990.

House burglaries showed the biggest drop, down 13% in the 12 months April 2011 to 2012 – a fall of around 3,000 across the county.

Cheshire's Deputy Chief Constable Helen King said: "These figures help us understand where and how our resources are best deployed, and to help identify emerging crime trends and to preventing crime and antisocial behaviour from being committed."

And in Audlem police figures show anti-social behaviour topping the list of offences by a large margin, accounting for more than half the crime in the village.

Crime figures for the 10-month period from April 2012 to February 2013 show 54% of village crime involved anti-social behaviour with a 50 such offences logged within a one mile radius of Audlem. (To put this in perspective, however, Manchester records around 650 such offences each day according to a recent BBC report.)

Over the same period there were 15 cases of theft (16.3%); eight crimes involving violence (8.7%); seven of criminal damage or arson (7.6%), three burglaries (3.3%) and two cases each of shoplifting, vehicle crime and drugs offences (2.2% each). There were no cases of robbery or of public disorder recorded in the village.

Police statistics also show that 11 cases are still under investigation while 28 have required no further action from police. Of the three cases where action has been taken one offender has received a community sentence from the court, one was found not guilty after trial and one offender was given a police caution.

November 2012 was the worst month for offences in Audlem with 19 cases reported to police. There were 14 in June 2012 and 10 in August. September 2012 saw only four offences committed and there were just five in May 2012.
