This month Audlem will add another team event to its ever increasing sports calendar as Audlem Tennis Club enters three teams into the nationally run AEGON team tennis event.

The teams will be

  • 14 and Under Boys
  • 14 and Under Girls
  • 18 and Under Boys team.

With the commitment and hard work of our dedicated coach, Jared Fellows, our three teams will compete in the Cheshire League starting this Sunday 21st April 2013 with the 14 and Under Boys playing Priory TC (home) and the 18 and Under Boys playing Brooklands SC (away)

As a parent and a resident I am extremely proud to see a team of young aspiring tennis players playing competitive tennis and representing Audlem in this way and wish them the very best of luck for their matches.

AEGON Team Tennis

Through seventeen years, the competition has grown to include over 5,300 teams ranging from 8-and-under through to Open (adult) age groups, thanks to commitment from the Lawn Tennis Association and major support from sponsors such as Everest, Prince, KIA Motors and now AEGON, the lead partner of the LTA.

The background around the competition is that AEGON, the lead partner of British Tennis officially became sponsors of the competition which forms part of their commitment to supporting British Tennis at all levels. The aim of this competition is to provide players of all ages with regular league matches, against similar standard players in a competitive team environment.

The majority of these teams compete at the county tier with localised matches.

Developments in this period include fixed match dates for all tiers and all age groups, online entry, results, league tables and a designated match period for league matches in April, May and June.

£101,000 of Prize Money is awarded for the 2013 National Open season/finals. An unbeaten team from the League and Finals was able to earn £10,500.
