Peter Morgan on Water Main Renewal Salford
Many will now know of the United Utilities water main replacement down Woore Road into the village. Last night water supplies were interrupted again by a large burst which, according to the workman I spoke to this morning, was repaired only to burst again, resulting in a large volume of water running down into Mount Pleasant. The work involves sleeving the old main with a new plastic one inserted inside the old pipe. The multiple holes are necessary for new connections to be made to the properties. Yesterday afternoon we experienced liquid mud running from our taps and grit affecting one of the toilet fittings, resulting in persistent overflow problems. We have not used the dishwasher or washing machine until the remaining work is completed for risk of damage. As we appear to be one of the first areas in the village to have our water main renewed, I thought it might be helpful to let others know what they may shortly experience. It’s a situation of short-term pain for long term gain.
Salford is scheduled for an open trench on Friday as they renew our smaller main supply, which has been subject to multiple bursts over the last three decades or more. Good to see that U.U. are finally getting to grips with the problem, but don't expect any road closed signs until next month!
Rachel Bailey on Overnight closure of 'Baddington Bridge' 7 pm onward Wednesday 29 April
Following a traffic collision, the bridge it will be closed overnight to allow the placement of 'temporary concrete safety barriers' in view of damage to the safety barrier.
Rachel Bailey on Erroneous Road Closure Notice on Cheshire Street
Thank you to residents who have taken the time to check this matter out with CE Highways.
I have also had a response now, and it appears that CE Highways were unaware of the sign being erected; apparently it relates to already completed works, carried out at the end of March and as such was not authorised.
I understand that the responsible organisation are being asked to remove the offending sign as soon as possible.
I hope to be in touch again soon, once I receive response to my remaining road closure queries.

Celia Bloor on Surecare Blue Box
I read this piece with a wry smile, being of an age where this might be applicable. Is there a physical blue box? Possibly as it contains a ‘tablet’ but my image of a ‘toolkit’ and ‘tools’ is probably not what they mean! As to the ‘cloud system’ well i am not sure how my hammers and screwdrivers get up in the air!

Colin Cliffe on Woore road closure
It Isn't, and hasn't been for at least 2 days despite there being ROAD CLOSED signs, on The Square, by Heathfield Rd bridge, at the top of Paddock Lane, at the bottom of Paddock Lane, at the bottom of Kettle Lane and in 3 different places on the Woore Road as you approach Audlem (2 of which force you onto the wrong side of the road on a bend. That's 8 sets of signs set down by our brilliant council, doing nothing but causing chaos. I wonder how many of our wonderful councillors are on £100,000 plus, as per the Jeremy Vine show article yesterday.
Anthony Pearson on Woore Road Closure
Anyone know where the Woore Rd closure indicted by the Parish Church is actually blocked?
