Celia Bloor on Miss Holland
There was a talk last night about Martha Holland known as Pat who in 1908 was driving well known suffragettes campaigning in shropshire. It turned out by 1921 she had retired to west view or West Dene, station road Audlem. She was there with a sister until her death in 1965 and the sister in 1966. Just wondering if anyone knew of them?

Billy Gibbons on Chimney Sweep
Hello Nick. It's not unusual for me to get confused and heres an example of that; The chimney sweep I would recomend is....wait for it....Nick Smith!!!! It's a bit like an episode of The Twilight Zone this is.
He swept my chimney and not only did he do a great job he's very honest and trustworthy too.
Now, my detective skills are about as good as my skills of getting confused so I'm going to deduct that your not Nick Smith. Well, you are I'm sure but not the one that would sweep your chimney otherwise you'd have done it by now probably.
Sadly the number I had for Nick is in my old phone and that's gone off to a far away land to be made into Lego or an electric car or something but I'm sure if you put; 'Nick Smith. Chimney Sweep. Nantwich' in Google he'll come up.
I'm going for a lie down in a dark room.....

Can anyone recommend a local/ish reliable chimney sweep.
Peter Oxley on Moorsfield Planning Application
The response to the PC about the planning portal complaint from Cheshire East makes no sense whatsoever: "The Support team has checked that the system is working and accepting representations." The date for representation from the public is now closed isn't it? What on earth is this glib fob-off supposed to mean? And many of us have have complained that was certainly not the case during the period when we could respond. I posted onlike and it didn't appear for 3 days giving the impression it wasn't going to, causing me to then have to travel to the council officers to submit a hard copy in person, at my cost (of fuel & parking) & great inconveinience. Many others I have spoken with in the village faced similar frustrations and consequently submitted their comments more than once. So the response does not address the complaints at all. Please can the PC respond by asking for a proper investigation & explanation of the problems we encountered, instead of this swerving-denial?

Judy Evans on Award of Merit Medal
My grandfather (Joe Dutton), great grandfather (George Williams) and great uncle (Alfred C Williams) were very involved in organising the (now defunct) Audlem Flower show. I have a number of photos and also some items from local press coverage. I believe it was, in its heyday day, one of the biggest flower shows in the whole of Cheshire. Happy to show Liz what I have if she arranges to come over to Audlem and calls in at our shop (Williams of Audlem Ltd).

Suzanne Manser on Please can you help our Audlem wild Birds
Avoid cutting hedges between March and August, as this is the primary nesting season for birds and is often restricted by law to protect wildlife. It is also advised not to trim during extreme weather, such as heavy frost, severe drought, or intense heat, which can damage the plant.Key Times to Avoid Cutting Hedges:March – August (Nesting Season): It is illegal in the UK to intentionally damage or destroy active bird nests, making this the most crucial period to avoid pruning.Spring Growth Phase: Cutting too early in spring can cut off new growth and disturb nesting wildlife.Extreme Weather: Avoid cutting in hot, dry weather to prevent scorching, or during freezing temperatures, which can damage exposed stems.Berry-Bearing Season (Late Autumn): While birds are safe from nesting disturbance, avoiding heavy cuts allows birds, such as fieldfares, to eat berries that help them survive the winter.
