We have recently moved to Audlem and need a cam belt replacing on our Captur. As we are new to the area, choosing a new garage is a minefield. The best garages are those that have been validated by satisfied customers, therefore can anyone recommend any decent ones that are able to do this.
Thank you
Thank you Colin Cliffe for your hilarious "Troubled Times " analysis I have not stopped smiling since reading it, I
definitely have to have another read, made my day, thank you.

Recently had Lundie Electricals (Nantwich) to install solar panels, battery storage & charging point. Very impressed with their handling of the entire project – professional & very customer focussed. They, Nick Lndie, have a very informative website.

In the good old days you could ask to have a number checked for a fault the occupant might not be aware of. Having tried a number a few times and got a few rings followed by clicks and tones I attempted to contact BT. All the numbers and chat lines I found seemed to only consider it was a fault on your own line you wanted checking. None of the options fitted and they just kept repeating them. Has anyone tried this lately and succeeded?
That's the one, thanks
Was it Steve O'Driscoff – steve5657@yahoo.co.uk – 07941553173 – you were looking for? I noted his name at the time it appeared.
Pair of green rimmed glasses found on the tow path near to the Shroppie, handed in at Williams.
Thank you from the Thornton family to the many people who posted thoughtful, kind and amusing messages about Dr Michael Thornton on Chatbox and Audlem Online's Facebook page after his death on 15th March. Thanks also to everyone who attended the Thanksgiving Service on 12th April and for the generous donations to ADAS and ADCA.
Despite promises by CE Highways that Weaver Bridge would be open at weekends, at 4:30 pm Friday the barriers are all padlocked, the large digger is in residence, and no workers are to be seen. Does CE have a different definition for weekend to the rest of us, or should we expect to see a team opening up the road at midnight?
Yet another example of our illustrious council's lack of communication with its customers. Maybe they're all far too busy working on the Local Plan to have time to talk to their local taxpayers?
A while ago I remember seeing a post from someone who had recently moved to the village , and interested in doing some general diy, maintenance etc. I can't find the details now and have looked back through the archive. Can anyone help me out please?
Having only just now seen Chris Briggs post from Sunday last, my sister in law Marie Nawn would like to sincerely thank him for handing her watch in at the Coop. Thanks also to staff at the Coop. The watch is of great sentimental value.
Don't forget Gluten free night 22nd April please ring Village chippy 811777 to prebook your order .
Could someone please tell me if the road is closed at weekends
Be careful there is a huge pothole on Longhill Lane by Ravens brook. I have reported it to CE but will not hold my breath. The hole is approximately 3 feet in diameter and about 8 inches deep. It is in the single carriage way where it floods.
I thought I read that there would be drop in vaccinations for coved in the public hall soon but cannot find it in the news itemsback to end of Feb. Can anyone remind me of dates? Thanks
The map shown in the news item is wrong. Mill Lane is accessible. However, this rat-run "shortcut " (thanks to Google maps), is not a lot of use. So us walkers have a relatively peaceful time for a few weeks. Still a steady stream of vehicles coming from Whitchurch and having to turn round. Including a Roberts oil tanker and a school taxi minibus. Feels a bit like COVID lockdown with no traffic coming from Audlem, so... silence.
Curious and curiouser.....more than 2 years since the APC funds went missing with no meaningful updates on progress towards recovery of the funds from the Parish Council, Police or P&C Commissioner in response to public requests. I am sure we all understand the need for measured communication to avoid jeopardising an investigation but why is there no news at all? The case is said to be a complex investigation. If this is correct then what are the complexities that are taking so long to resolve? On the surface, to the ill informed members of public, this looks to be a fairly straightforward case .
Now we have an Extraordinary PC Meeting to be held behind closed doors – why? If there are sensitive issues of to be discussed that's fine but at least please inform the public of the nature of the issues and explain why it is best they are not shared with them. Otherwise we all continue to be confused, bemused and frustrated whilst we concoct our own conspiracy theories as we are starved of facts.
Is it time for more communication on this matter with regular updates from the police investigators? It is a substantial sum of money and its disappearance affects the whole community.
Full disclosure.....for the last 5 years we have lived 50 yards outside the APC boundary in Buerton PC so not directly affected. However, we have made donations to APC in the past for e.g. Turnpike Field. It's possible that some of our hard earned has gone AWOL with the missing funds so we are interested in recovery of the money which can be used to improve amenities in the village.
Good morning.. I have a Doctors appointment today, anyone know if the Whitchurch road bridge is open?
I recently read the article about the possible felling old oaks in turnpike using the word "disease" which I think is an excuse to chop them down in the name of health and safety ,this is a cop out ! The importance of veteran trees even dead ones is immeasurable to wildlife , it's just to dam easy to cut them down !get rid of the so called danger and to plant lollipop trees that will do nothing for wildlife ,bats roost in old dead trees ,owls too ,not to mention countless insects ,can we have a common sense approach please and think about the bigger picture !
I have been notified by the bridges/highway team that works can recommence at the Weaver Bridge, so the closure of Whitchurch Road will return tomorrow 16/4.
I contacted the Parish Council Clerk as it was not clear to me if they wanted members of Public to attend the meeting on 16th and I needed confirmation. This is the response I received
Dear Mrs Duys
Thank you for your enquiry. In line with the standing orders of the Council, the public have a right to attend the meeting for point 23/197 but will be asked to leave at point 23/198 due to the sensitivity of the matters to be discussed.
So you can hear the apologies from non attendees and nothing else? You can't even know what they are going to discuss to report back later on.
Is that democracy? Not in my book
We have a few small plastering jobs looking for any recommendations, thanks in advance
Has any one had their conservatory altered if so any recommendations please.
Thank you
Our cat got out of the house yesterday lunchtime and has not been seen since. We moved to Audlem last October and she hasn't been out since we moved in.
Please can you keep a look out and check sheds, garages and gardens, we are devastated she's missing.
She is black, dark tabby markings, apricot under her chin to her mouth, few apricot flecks on her face, her right ear has a small piece out of it on the tip.
Found a ladies watch on the road by Kingbur place near the Co-op in Audlem about 12.30 Sunday 14th April. It's been handed in to Alison in the Co-op for safe keeping.
