Please note that the Permissive Footpath, from the A529 Market Drayton Road to the Canal Bridge at Swanbach, is closed for up to two days; 3 September and 4 September 2025; this to ensure the safety of both operatives and walkers as the maize crop is harvested.
Closure notices will also be in place.
Thank you for your kind consideration and understanding.

Is there anyone who could loan my neighbour a walking frame temporarily whilst hers is being repaired. Can collect/return. Thank you.
Re Letter.
The more I think about recieving a threatening letter accusing me of doing something I obviously didn't do, the more it's playing on my mind and that's really something I could do without especially at this point in my life.
When you do find out who the person is on the motorcycle and who made the phone call to you, I think an apology from you to me might be the proper thing to do. You can do it under the cover of darkness like you did with the first letter if you wish.
By the way; the last thing I wanted to do was to post something like this on Audlem Online but, because you didn't have the decency to face me or to include your contact details in your letter, I feel I don't have any other choice.
Please restore a bit of faith and do the right thing.
Thank you.
P.S. Thanks to the Editor for allowing me to post this because, as you know, it's not my usual kind of Chatbox entry.
P.P.S. After going though my documents the exact date I last owned and rode a motorcycle was Saturday April the 3rd, 1993 at approximately 11;30 am. It was a black Yamaha XS650 with cowhorn handlebars and a single saddle and 6" over front forks and a person from Wrenbury came and bought it off me at around 12 mid-day. Later that afternoon the Grand National was aborted.....and no, that wasn't my fault either in case your wondering........
Keep flying the flags – no need to review
The Audlem District Amenities Society (ADAS) has been a driving force behind the display of Union Jack flags in the village for many years. This tradition has become an integral part of Audlem's identity, symbolizing community spirit, local pride, and a shared commitment to making the village a beautiful and welcoming place.
A Symbol of Unity, Not Division
The use of flags in Audlem is fundamentally different from the way they may be used in other contexts. Instead of a political statement, the flags are an expression of local identity and unity. They are a visible testament to the hard work of volunteers who dedicate their time and effort to decorating the village. This effort is not about national politics but about local pride and a shared sense of community. The flags, like the hanging baskets and festive lights, are a tool for beautification and a source of joy for residents and visitors alike.
A Long-Standing Tradition
The tradition of flying the Union Jack and transitioning to Christmas trees is a well-loved and long-standing practice in Audlem. It is a defining feature of the village's character, drawing visitors and creating a sense of continuity. Abandoning this tradition would not only remove a key part of Audlem's visual identity but also diminish the impact of the volunteer efforts that make it possible. The display of flags is a symbol of a cohesive community that works together for a common purpose, a value that transcends any external connotations.
The Audlem Way
The true meaning of the flags in Audlem is not determined by external debates but by the community itself. For the people of Audlem, the flags represent the collective effort to create a vibrant and beautiful place to live. The tradition is a unique and positive expression of community spirit that stands apart from broader national conversations. By continuing to fly the flags, the village reaffirms its commitment to its unique character and the values of local pride and unity that the Audlem community holds dear
Re the flags in the village, perhaps it might be an idea to alternate the Union flag with the flag of St George, after all Audlem is in England, just.
Maybe some bunting could be put up too, Wybunbury looked particularly good this year with their decorative efforts
Due to the current abuse of flags and the unfortunate connotation – is it time we review what we fly in our lovely village?
Could who ever keeps letting their dog foul along Churchfields on a very regular basis be more considerate to the neighbours and kindly pic up their dogs poo!!!
It's not much to ask – take a poo bag with you pick it up !!
You know who are so please stop doing it
It's not very nice for people who use the shortcut or people who live there.
You have a dog – it needs to poo, be more responsible for picking it up
To whom it may concern.
I DO NOT own a Motorcycle!
The last one I owned and rode was in April 1993.
If you would like to write me another letter but this time include your phone number we can discuss it further if you wish.
Regarding "CCTV"; I also have that luxury.
Just so you know, the Police have been informed.
Thank you to Terry for suggesting Rufus. I went my own way from there but I expect most people will need his help. It was not an easy journey with my old machine and you do need to know what you are doing. ChatGPT was very useful. Win 11 is excellent on it, not sluggish at all. I have Linux on another machine but I find you need a bit of computer know-how to keep things running smoothly. The Charity suggestion seems a very good idea. It's a lot cheaper than buying a new machine.
We will be re- starting Praise and Play this week after the Summer break.
We meet in St James Church each Thursday morning 9:30- 10:30 am. This is a friendly meeting place for pre-school children with their parent or carer, we provide some activities, songs and a story. There is time for a drink and biscuit and more importantly opportunity to chat to others and make new friendships. Some children are too young to actively participate but often they enjoy seeing other children and all are welcome.
We do not charge for these sessions but there is always a plate out for anyone wishing to contribute.
If you think this could be a news item feel free to publish it there. Thank you.
Found!
I would like to thank the Villager who called me about the whereabouts of the board. It had been thrown into the nettles 20' from the entrance, broken but repaired and used for the recent funeral parking.
They witnessed the incident from a distance, but good enough description of the culprit.
Thank you again.
I'm not clear what the problem here is. I used the same technique to update my laptop. It flies now and I've saved a few hundred quid on buying a new laptop. It's certainly not more sluggish – quite the opposite. Looks like other people are pleased with the outcome too and a charity is benefiting. What's not to like?
Terry, I don't think I suggested consigning any hardware to landfill. What I did suggest was a newer machine will have upgraded spec, and, if a laptop, better batteries by now than when Win 10 was released, and you're future proofing your setup. Most people nowadays's tend to use laptops or tablets, the days of towers are really consigned to gamers. Linux is different, but once used a few times is a doddle with ample free software including Office packages. Performance measuring, I'm not going there, this depends on a lot of variables.
Having spent over 30 years in a Data Centre, I'll pass on the demonstration, thanks anyway.
Hi,
If anyone has moved the TPF A Board used for Charity Function parking on Saturday, could they drop it back at The Flower Shop in the Village please.
Its required for a Funeral later this week.
Thank You
Carl Dovey
A big "Thank-you" to Terry Aston for updating my HP laptop and installing Windows 11.
It seems to be much faster than before and it's good to know of a local source of assistance.
Hi Terry, I have a laptop running Windows 10 and was wondering if you could change it to Windows 11 for me , I live in Windmill Drive Audlem Phone No 01270811065. Best Regards.... Alan.
