Tim Denning on Village Flags

3rd March 2025 @ 2:00pm

I'd support displaying our Ukrainian flags if only to give people under Russian attack some small degree of hope.

Peter Morgan on Village Flags

Rather Ukrainian flags on Cheshire street than Russian ones. Putin has no respect for borders, Novichok in Salisbury, Pulonium in London hotel. We must stand with Ukraine

They assured us that we would get a response but it may be after the Thursday 6th deadline

Roland Turner on Village Flags

What a great idea Brian, regarding showing the village's continued support for Ukraine. I am sure that some people would not support this but having already acquired and flown the flags three years ago, in these very trying times, it is time to get them out again. If the existing flags are looking a little tired and we need to renew some of them I, and I'm sure many others, would chip in to replace them. There's not a lot we can do individually but the least we can do is chip in for flags to show our support.

john wainwright on Village Flags

I don't think our village should consider bedecking itself in flags or pennants of other nations in times of conflict. Only the Union Flag or The Cross of St.George are acceptable.
The village high street is not the place for international politics.

Hello Mary,
My teenage son would be able to help you with cutting your lawn if that would be of interest to you.
Feel free to contact me on 812696.

Anna on Does anyone have a laptop with a CD drive?

2nd March 2025 @ 10:57am

Does anyone have a laptop with a CD drive I could pop in and borrow for five minutes? I have a CD I need to download a copy of my medical x-ray off and would be so grateful. Thank you :)

John Evans on Peter Morgan on Ralph Warburton

1st March 2025 @ 5:46pm

Many thanks for your very welcome and positive update, Peter. There is no doubt that Ralph was a tremendous asset to the village over many years. So many good things got done through his individual as well as collaborative efforts. We certainly miss encountering him so frequently like we used to, but he will always provide an inspiring model of the difference one individual with drive and enthusiasm can make.

Can I respectfully request that the Ukrainian Flags are once again are flown around the village. It's three years since the village first raised these flags in support of a sovereign nation that had been invaded. A small token admittedly but the least we can do to show solidarity.

Hi not sure but is there someone local that can come and do the first cut of my lawn it's not a big job but I'm unable to do it due to osteoarthritis looking for quotes 🙂 😊

Billy Gibbons on Carrying service

I meant to reply to this but it slipped my mind. I know someone who can help if you've not got fixed up.

Carol Palin on New/reinstated/improved public transport

28th February 2025 @ 7:01am

It's good that Cheshire East has finally connected our local hospital to the network. It's difficult to believe that Leighton has not had a connection prior to this. I'm please to hear that Wrenbury area's transport has been reinstated ....

BUT ... what about the Buerton area? We are completely cut off. Currently my husband still drives but that happens when he can no longer do so? Taxis are prohibitivley expensive and the walk of 1.8 miles each way is too far even the fittest of mid-70 year olds. It worries me greatly.

Hi. Can anyone recommend a good joiner/carpenter to replace original, decorative soffits and fascias on an old house please?

Message for Doreen Hubbard – did you manage to find someone to help with moving boxes to Chester as I have not seen anyone respond?

Paddy Kenshole on Signs

26th February 2025 @ 11:39am

It would be nice if who ever put up the Panto signs would take them down, unless they are leaving them up for next year!! They are not a good advert for our village especilly the one at little heath which was broken in the storms, it also should not be screwed to the Village sign

Jon Kay on If you want better roads you're going to have to complain. A lot.

26th February 2025 @ 11:07am

Here's the link to the league table where CEC is top (ie worst) – where the following analysis can be found:-
"The analysis, based on data from FixMyStreet.com, indicates that 69 councils each have over 1,000 potholes left unrepaired, with Cheshire East Council topping the list with a staggering 17,191 open reports.

Hertfordshire County Council comes closely behind with 12,650 unresolved potholes, while Essex County Council, home to pop legend Rod Stewart, ranks third with 11,190."

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/newsbirmingham/uk-s-9-worst-towns-for-potholes-as-midlands-features-twice-in-damming-list/ar-AA1zJsng?

If you want better roads, we need EVERYONE to complain.
So, register every pothole and send a formal complaint email to CEC.

Use this link for logging a pothole:
https://fixmystreet.cheshireeast.gov.uk/
Photos definitely help as well as accurate description.

They do fix some of them, although the fix tends to only last a few days / weeks / months at best. So, you need to keep logging issues.

Submit a formal complaint about the waste of taxpayers' money due to continued botched repairs to:
Complaints Team rlluk@cheshireeast.gov.uk
and cc info@digital.cheshireeast.gov.uk

If hundreds rather than a handful complain regularly, CEC may eventually start fixing the holes properly once rather than unlimited botches.

Roger Clark on Hatherton bends

25th February 2025 @ 8:33pm

Drove back from Nantwich this afternoon and found there has been a repair to the pot holes on the Hatherton Bends. How long it will last as it appears to filled with cold tarmac rather than hot tarmac. All other pot holes on this road were ignored.

Read an article online that Cheshire East tops the list for the most pot holes in the list of councils in the UK.

Trevor Charlesworth on Hatherton bends

25th February 2025 @ 10:35am

A heads up to all road users. As most will be aware the section of the A529 at the Hatherton bends has been in poor shape surface wise for some time now. However this morning on my return from Nantwich it appears to have rapidly deteriorated to a point I would term hazardous. It's usually possible to ' navigate ' around potholes, but on this section of road it is not. I had to brake and reduce my speed to walking pace ,which is risky in itself ,and even then it was an unpleasant experience.
Anyone on two wheels please be particularly careful.
I have reported my concern, by phone , to Highways as a matter of urgency.

Brian Bugeja on New Planning Application for 133 houses

22nd February 2025 @ 5:15pm

This morning I checked the application on the Cheshire East website, AND the consultation period end date is still 06.03.25.

Can the Parish Council please;
- Clarify whether Cheshire East has accepted to postpone the consultation deadline – I seem to understand that they have NOT as yet. Personally, I intend to submit my comments before the 06.03.25
- Inform us when Cheshire East accepts or declines to postpone the deadline, and for whom? That is, whether it's postponed for the Parish Council ONLY, OR also for the general public.
- AND, can the Parish Council provide an example, or a template, of applicable and effective comments that we should submit?

Peter Morgan on 14 years today

22nd February 2025 @ 12:54pm

14 years today at 12.50 Jan and I were greatly blessed to be able to walk out of the damaged remains of Christchurch cathedral NZ without injury following the hugely damaging earthquake that claimed the lives of 185 people, 3000 injured and left the city in ruins. Our grateful thanks to all the wonderful people of Christchurch who were so helpful to us despite all their own fears and hardship in those devastating hours and days.
.God bless them all.
