David hall on If you want better roads you're going to have to complain. A lot.

9th March 2025 @ 6:47pm

Is Mark goldsmith taking the wizz, 550 potholes he's having a laugh. I suppose his definition of a pothole is different to the majority of tax paying people who use our deteriorating road infrastructure. For goodness sake can this joke of a council take some responsibility for a change.

Steve Reece on Laughable Cheshire East Response to Being Worst Council For Potholes

9th March 2025 @ 4:52pm

I noticed with rolled eyes Cheshire East's press release featured on Audlem Online today, in which the council attempt to refute the fact that they are the WORST council in the country for potholes. Particularly ironic was the part where they referred to: "We are using our limited budgets in the best possible way." Our roads are visibly terrible, they are disintegrating from lack of care and there are visibly potholes eveywhere. Do they think we're all blind? Cheshire East's 'limited' total budget for 2024-2025 was £287m...limited?! Perhaps not building a white elephant multi storey car park in Crewe, which is operating at a loss due to under use does not represent using budgets in the 'best way'. How many potholes could have been fixed with that. How can they be made to be accountable...? Furthermore, giving them greater power & tax raising power as part of a regional Cheshire devolved authority does not seem to be a sensible thing to do...

Nick Smith on Pot Hole

9th March 2025 @ 4:04pm

I have read, with interest ,Mark Goldsmith comments about pot holes. I don't know where and on what roads he drives on but I suspect the article is spot on.

Paul Vincent on Village Flags

3rd March 2025 @ 6:19pm

Just wanted to say. I agree we need the Ukrainian flags back up in the village. Show our support for a peaceful country that has been wrecked by a dictator. Ring any bells. Also as a retired service man I have noticed that there are a few Union Jacks that are flying upside down in the village.

Wes Lechley on Village Flags

3rd March 2025 @ 5:48pm

I agree with Roland, let's show some support.

Tim Denning on Village Flags

3rd March 2025 @ 2:00pm

I'd support displaying our Ukrainian flags if only to give people under Russian attack some small degree of hope.

Peter Morgan on Village Flags

3rd March 2025 @ 1:26pm

Rather Ukrainian flags on Cheshire street than Russian ones. Putin has no respect for borders, Novichok in Salisbury, Pulonium in London hotel. We must stand with Ukraine

Roland Turner on Village Flags

2nd March 2025 @ 8:52pm

What a great idea Brian, regarding showing the village's continued support for Ukraine. I am sure that some people would not support this but having already acquired and flown the flags three years ago, in these very trying times, it is time to get them out again. If the existing flags are looking a little tired and we need to renew some of them I, and I'm sure many others, would chip in to replace them. There's not a lot we can do individually but the least we can do is chip in for flags to show our support.

john wainwright on Village Flags

2nd March 2025 @ 5:22pm

I don't think our village should consider bedecking itself in flags or pennants of other nations in times of conflict. Only the Union Flag or The Cross of St.George are acceptable.
The village high street is not the place for international politics.

Does anyone have a laptop with a CD drive I could pop in and borrow for five minutes? I have a CD I need to download a copy of my medical x-ray off and would be so grateful. Thank you :)

John Evans on Peter Morgan on Ralph Warburton

1st March 2025 @ 5:46pm

Many thanks for your very welcome and positive update, Peter. There is no doubt that Ralph was a tremendous asset to the village over many years. So many good things got done through his individual as well as collaborative efforts. We certainly miss encountering him so frequently like we used to, but he will always provide an inspiring model of the difference one individual with drive and enthusiasm can make.

Brian Scanlon on Village Flags

Can I respectfully request that the Ukrainian Flags are once again are flown around the village. It's three years since the village first raised these flags in support of a sovereign nation that had been invaded. A small token admittedly but the least we can do to show solidarity.
