Heather Yates on Otters

8th October 2025 @ 3:35pm

Hi all. Just wanted to quickly get a post up about the otters. They are a protected species in the UK under the wildlife and conservation law. If we can get solid evidence that they live in or around the proposed Muller building site then they cannot legally build any houses, as they would be breaking the law. Have there been any further updates since the fish remains and camera pictures? X

Paula Parker on Work on farmland

8th October 2025 @ 1:08pm

Hi
Does anyone know what’s happening on the farm land at the back of the vale which faces the houses on Windmill Drive? Clearly more than just farm work as it’s been completely flattened. I’m intrigued

Geoff Smethurst on Car Parking Charges

Well said Judy and Peter. How refreshing to read such altruistic points of view.
I saw a press article about such a proposal in Alsager and the cost was estimated to be £12 per annum per household.

Bob Fousert on Hablar Espanol

7th October 2025 @ 4:35pm

Hola. Ahead of a month long trip to the Galapagos Islands early next year and in a bid to make the most of the experience I an trying to teach myself Spanish. However, there is only so much that I can do on my own and therefore, I wonder if there is anyone out there who is or knows of a Spanich speaker or someone who is in the process of learning Spanish. The key missing ingredient for advancing learning is holding conversations in Spanish. Hopefully, some one is able to help, please, Mucho gracias, Bob

Carol Haq on Leak in Cheshire street

7th October 2025 @ 9:45am

This is an update: Cheshire East came to inspect the leak in Cheshire Street promptly but they wrote "We have assessed the enquiry and the fault appears to be the responsibility of United Utilities. We have contacted them to investigate further and action as required."
So the problem has been returned to United Utilities who have already said it is ground water, therefore not their responsibility
I have bought a water test kit and there doesn't seem to be a huge difference between the leak and my water from tap, but I am no expert, is there anyone in the village who can read these things.

Judy Evans on Car Parking Charges

7th October 2025 @ 6:41am

In a village that prides itself on community spirit, I find it sad when people only look at something solely from their own point of view. Having free parking again would; really help our struggling businesses (some of which, as predicted, have already been badly affected by these charges), secure the continued use of the playing field for village events (now currently under threat), promote the vital revenues needed for the Public Hall, annex clubs tennis courts, and gym, encourage tourism, incentivise people not to hog the limited on street parking spaces, and would stop disincetivising (often key) non resident workers who need to park in the village centre for their work. Certain village 'assets' you may not personally use (yet)- but that shouldn't exclude people from considering their contribution to society – especially their local society. And before anyone spouts 'it 's only £x or pence' – it matters not – the effects of parking charges are already tangible, and not in a good way.
I'm reminded of my father. Derek McKelvey, who always had the more expensive milk delivered by the milkman, despite living next door to the Coop (when it was on the site of the former bike shop). This was simply to do his part to ensure the service continued for the vulnerable and elderly village residents – many of whom relied on it. If you truly value your community we could all do with being a bit 'more Derek' in this life.

Peter Kay on Car Parking Charges

6th October 2025 @ 11:30am

We did not want car parking charges so that people would not have to pay to visit village shops. The fact that there are spaces is not particularly relevant as visitors will still have to pay. The limited road parking soon gets filled up as locals currently try to avoid the charges. I strongly support the village agreeing a sensible rate with Cheshire East. It will help us villagers too for visits to the Doctors etc.

Suzie Warren on Car Parking Charges

6th October 2025 @ 5:36am

I also agree with Chris re car parking charges. I wouldn't expect people of, say, Alsager, Crewe or Nantwich to have to pay my car parking charges by having them added to their council tax bill, I'm 'happy' to pay on the door.

So, APC, please don't consider adding this charge to our Audlem council tax bills.

I agree with Chris Jones re – village car parking charges being added to our council tax. I rarely ever use the car park and if I do I am happy to pay accordingly on the day. I don’t see why we should pay for the benefit of others.

CHRIS JONES on Car Park Charges

2nd October 2025 @ 10:43am

I would oppose this idea as I don't use the carpark I don't see why I should have to pay more Council Tax to support everyone else. You use it you pay for it. Under the current paying system I see more free spaces now when I walk through than I did when it was free, which surely is a benefit for visitors

Brian Scanlon on Crewe tip

1st October 2025 @ 7:25pm

Having traveled from Audlem to Crewe tip arriving at 4.36pm today Wednesday I found it shut. A queue of very angry residents one of which was in a fully loaded hire van having to reverse away. Expected a 6pm closure until the clocks change but no 4pm from the 1st today. Yet again Cheshire East fail to provide even a basic service for a high price. Closing at 4pm is a poor service.

Celia Bloor on Car park charges

1st October 2025 @ 9:56am

Just read in chronicle that Alsager town council is asking their residents if they would pay extra council tax to keep their carparks free. They are proposing a contract with Cheshire East council for 5 years. I for one would prefer to pay a one off and not have the faff it is at present. Would Audlem Parish Council please consider?

Carol Haq on Leak in Cheshire street

30th September 2025 @ 10:12am

There is a leak coming out of the Kerb stone in Cheshire Street out of the wide pavement almost opposite the Scout and Guide Hall. This was reported to United Utilities who came very promptly and said that it is untreated water, therefore ground water, so I presume not their responsibility. Now Cheshire East have been informed. Watch this space.
