This article is devoted to the actual mechanics of the voting in the "You Decide" Participatory Funding event at the Nantwich Civic Hall on January 21st. You can see the original article about this by clicking here.

Remember that there are three bids from Audlem-based groups for a share of this funding

  • ADAPT – safe cycling routes and maps
  • ADCA – equipment for the Tuesday lunch club when it reopens in the new Annexe.
  • APHAx/Gym – equipment in the new Gym facility in the Annexe,

It is vital to have as many Audlem residents as possible at the meeting on January 21st to ensure that Audlem gets its fair share of the Budget.

Voting procedure

The following has been kindly provided by Andy Hannah of ADAPT.

  • Voting is open to residents of the 'Nantwich and the Rural South' area of Cheshire East aged 12 and over.
  • Doors open at 9.30, and all voters must be registered by 10am. So, arriving early is essential. Late arrivals will be allowed in, but cannot vote.
  • Registered voters will be issued with a voting form on which every project is listed with a space to vote on a scale of 1-4 (1 being poor, 4 being best)
  • All projects must be voted on, so voters have to stay for the whole of the presentation period. If a project is not voted on, all that person's votes will be discarded.
  • The basis of the voting is to assign a score to each project individually, not to rank them first, second, third etc. So you can put as many 4s, 3s, 2s or 1s as you see fit.
  • The presentations are expected to take about an hour.
  • After the presentations, the voting forms are collected, the scores added up, and the projects ranked in order of scores received. Funding will be awarded to the highest ranked projects until the available funding is used up.
  • The results will be announced at the end of the event.

Getting to the vote

Frank Gillies has pointed out that there is a convenient 9 o'clock bus leaving Audlem to Nantwich Bus Station which would be an ideal time to register at the Civic Hall. So you could register, vote, have a nice cup of tea, go shopping in M&S and come back to Audlem on the 12 o'clock or 1 o'clock bus – all without the hassle of parking.

What better way to spend a Saturday morning?
