wrenbury station award

At last night's 17th annual Cheshire Best Kept Station awards held in the Grange Theatre Hartford, Wrenbury won the Roberts Bakery Award for the 'Most improved station' in the county.

The work carried out on the station has been undertaken by Joy & David Houghton who live close by the station, since their appointment by Transport for Wales as Station Adopters. They were only appointed in March 2019 but the judges noticed the significance difference they had made since then -- hence the award last night.

The award was collected by a delighted David -- as Joy was out with the Nantwich Pop Choir who meet every Tuesday evening 7.30 to 9pm at the Nantwich Primary Academy on Manor Road.

The award was presented by Kulvinder Bassi, Community Rail Team Leader at the Department for Transport.

Their neighbours Nantwich collected the Merseyrail In Bloom award where their gardens are maintained by the Nantwich in Bloom team lead by Sue Sherwood. Congratulations to all these volunteers.

Details of all the other winners including Crewe station will be posted on the Best Kept Stations web site shortly.
