WOT – No Football?

After an early rise -- my body clock seems set at around 05:00- I trundle to my shower and then to get quiz questions etc ready for the Big WI Fish and Chip quiz night on Thursday -- dreaming up a set of questions suitable for the teams.
TV on as I watch match of the day and to see mighty Man United humbled by Huddersfield United. And I recall the glory of the team I support -- Liverpool , putting away 7 goals in the Champions Cup. Most scored in that competition. Beating even the 5 goals scored by Barcelona in 2012.

But to the game we face today . Having prepared all for the game Loaded up the car with my impedimenta and ready to drive off, a message from Kev Rodgers, our manager, to say Sandbach have called to say pitch has standing water on it and they say the game is off. I call Chris King the Referee to plead for the match to be on, but to no avail. He says it is not playable after the overnight rains. So now I cannot avoid garden work.

Sad , for I was looking forward to this cup match.
