This afternoon, Sunday 12th May, the combined churches of St. James Audlem, St John's Doddington and St Chad's Wybunbury invite you to join them for "Rogation" Worship on a Farm.
Rogation is a traditional time to remember where our food comes from. In our pre-packaged world it is easy to forget that it all begins with natural growth from the earth. Although we have an expectation that food will always be available to us in the shops, it comes as a bit of a shock to realise that we are dependent both on the skill of our farmers and what best can be called "providence".
Our Christian understanding has seen this as the hand of our Creator God, so for centuries at Rogation (which means "asking"), special prayers are made for the blessing of the crops, the work of farmers and all that will make up our food.
This year our service is at Highfield Farm, (CW3 0DT off Woodhouse Lane on the way to Norton-in- Hales ), at 4.00pm.
After our walk round the farm, stopping at various points for special prayers, we conclude with tea. This is a family-friendly occasion and all are very welcome to join us. Wellies or other suitable footwear and weather appropriate clothing is recommended.
