Police are seeking the driver of a white van following a road collision on the A41 in which a motorcyclist was seriously injured.

The accident happened near Higher Heath, between Market Drayton and Whitchurch, just after 3pm last Friday.

The 53-year-old motorcyclist was airlifted to the University Hospital North Staffordshire in Stoke after being in collision with a blue Ford Focus estate car. His condition today is described as stable.

He was riding a blue BMW K75 motorcycle on the A41 heading north towards Whitchurch behind a large white van which turned off the main road into Manor House Lane, Higher Heath.

The Ford Focus had been at the give-way sign on Manor House Lane prior to turning right onto the A41. The collision happened at the junction.

Police investigating the circumstances have appealed for witnesses to come forward, especially the driver of the large white van which turned into Manor House Lane.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said today: "The van driver was not directly involved in the collision and probably is not aware of what happened.

However, they might be able to assist in helping establish the circumstances and we ask them to contact Whitchurch or Shrewsbury police stations by calling 101.
