Audlem's spoof story in April 2008 is still generating follow-up news items nearly five years on.

In an article in the 20p I newspaper from the Independent, there is a suggestion that Wales and England might move onto different tax rates. This could in time turn Wales into a Monaco-style tax haven, but possibly without the weather to go with it.

As part of the discussion about the relative benefits of living in Engand and Wales the article recalls the AudlemOnline poll in 2008 which recorded that 60% of responders would support Audlem becoming part of Wales to benefit from free precscriptions and free hospital parking.

Whether, in light of recent Rugby results, the result of the poll would be quite the same today is another matter....

Meanwhile the next April 1st is fast approaching and our revered editor is sitting around without much else to do apart from inventing new stories.
