It's film time again in Audlem on Saturday 13th March. Once again Reels on Wheels bring two recently released films to the Public Hall. They are Astro Boy at 5.00pm and the BAFTA-winning An Education at 7.30pm

Astro Boy (PG) is set in futuristic Metro City. When a scientist's young son dies, he secretly creates a powerful robot child to replace him.

Unable to fulfil the grieving man's expectations, Astro Boy embarks on a journey in search of acceptance, experiencing betrayal and a netherworld of robot gladiators, before he returns to save Metro City and reconcile with the father who had rejected him.

An Education (12A) was nominated for 8 BAFTA Film Awards this year and won one. Carey Mulligan, who plays Jenny Mellor, won the Best Leading Actress award. The film has also been nominated for 3 Oscars.

The film is set in the early 1960s. Sixteen year-old Jenny Mellor lives with her parents in the London suburb of Twickenham. Following her father's wishes, everything that Jenny does is in the sole pursuit of being accepted into Oxford, as he wants her to have a better life than he did.

Jenny is bright, pretty, hard working but also naturally gifted. The only problems her father may perceive in her life is her issue with learning Latin and her dating a boy named Graham, who is nice but socially awkward. Jenny's life changes after she meets David Goldman, a man over twice her age.

David goes out of his way to show Jenny and her family that his interest in her is not improper and that he wants solely to expose her to cultural activities, which she enjoys.

Once again the Public Hall Management Committee has sought to bring the latest films to the village. Prices are £2.50/£5.00 for Astro Boy and £5.00 for An Education.
